How to Make A Caprese Christmas Wreath

The ingredients are pretty simple. You will need some cherry tomatoes, mini mozzarella balls or bocconcini balls, and some fresh basil leaves.

a small bowl of mini mozzarella balls

In the middle of the wreath is a balsamic glaze which is made by simmering balsamic vinegar and honey on the hob for about 12 minutes.

Add the small bowl that you are going to serve the glaze in to the middle of a round plate or serving platter.

You will also need some wooden or bamboo cocktail sticks. Simply take a stick and skewer on a tomato, a mini mozzarella ball and a basil leaf.

Arrange the skewers on the plate around the bowl so that you form the shape of a wreath.

Once you’ve added all the skewers you can fill in the gaps with the remaining basil leaves. This is totally optional but it does help to make the plate look extra pretty!

Then simply add the balsamic glaze to the bowl in the middle of your platter and it’s ready to serve! Serve it immediately or the wreath will keep in the fridge for up to 6 hours if you want to make it in advance.

This Caprese Wreath looks so impressive on your Christmas table but only takes about 15 minutes to make. It’s ideal for a snack or nibbles on Christmas Day or as an easy and informal starter. Put the plate down on the table and let everyone help themselves!

Or if you are hosting a Christmas party over the festive period, then this simple caprese appetizer would work beautifully alongside charcuterie boards or grazing boards.

Decorate the table with fresh herbs, add some freshly sliced sourdough bread with some extra virgin olive oil for dipping and you’ve got a super simple but really impressive spread for your party guests!

These little balls of fresh mozzarella and juicy tomatoes finished off with the bowl of balsamic glaze will be a dish that you will make again and again, I promise you!

A Note on Serving To Children

The skewers can be sharp and the tomatoes are obviously whole so be sure to remove the food and cut the tomatoes and mozzarella in half if feeding to young children.
