Christmas Leftovers Idea

December 19, 2022 by Ciara Attwell, Updated December 2, 2024

These muffin tins are a great way to pack up Christmas leftovers for your guests or to bring a portion of food round to friends or family who can’t be there on Christmas Day.

Christmas Leftovers!

I don’t think I’ve ever had a Christmas Day without tonnes of leftovers. I always over cater out of fear of running out of food as you can see below!

But the good thing is I send everyone home with lots of Christmas leftovers.

What I serve For Christmas Dinner

Turkey

Most years, I make this Airfryer Christmas Turkey Crown as there are only four of us.

Unless we’ve got guests coming, a turkey crown is the perfect size to feed a small family. And cooking turkey in the airfryer is a lot quicker than doing it in the oven!

Christmas Ham

Christmas Ham ALWAYS makes an appearance over the festive period and My Slow Cooker Christmas Ham is probably one of my most popular Christmas Recipes to date!

Although, my Christmas Ham In Coke Recipe is proving to be a very popular alternative! I honestly don’t think you can beat a Christmas Ham with a sweet and sticky glaze!

Christmas Vegetables

Christmas Potatoes

Being Irish, it won’t come as a surprise that I serve several different Christmas potato side dishes on the big day!

Of course there have to be roasties!

And I always make mine in advance to save time on Christmas Day! My Get Ahead Christmas Potatoes really are a game changer if you want to make serving christmas dinner easier!

If I’m serving mash, I always make that in advance too! Yes, you can freeze mashed potato! If you use mash a lot, then you need to check out this easy way to freeze mashed potato.

Since I’ve had an Air fryer, I’ve also been making these Air Fryer Christmas Potatoes.

Christmas for me is all about sumptuous, flavourful food but without the faff and these garlicky, cheesy airfryer potatoes are just that!

Christmas Veggies

You’ve got to have brussels sprouts at Christmas. It’s the rules!

I know sprouts are a love it or hate it vegetable, but I make mine a bit more palatable by serving them slightly differently!

My Bacon & Parmesan Sprouts will honestly surprise you. You might even get the kids eating brussels sprouts if you serve them this way!

Parsnips are another Christmas veggie side dish that I always like to serve and these Christmas Carrots & Parsnips are another dish that I make in advance and freeze!

I’m not sure why, but we seem to only eat red cabbage as part of our Christmas Day dinner and not really at any other time of year, but I make mine super simple by cooking mine in the slow cooker!

So with all this food around, I like to make sure that nothing goes to waste!

And I wanted to find an easy way to send family off with some Christmas leftovers to enjoy in the days after Christmas so they can just relax and not worry about cooking!

I saw these aluminium muffin trays and thought it would be a great way to package up food for guests or even to take a portion of Christmas dinner round to friends or family members who might be ill or elderly and unable to leave the house.

A Christmas feast laid out on a Christmas themed wooden table.

I bought them on Amazon but have seen them on Ebay and in some online homeware stores too.

Fill with turkey, ham, roast potatoes, veggies, stuffing or any other leftovers. Then cover with tin foil and the tray can be put straight into the oven to heat up.

They are also resusable too!
