Nut Free Snacks For School

August 7, 2024 by Bianca Carey Spencer, Updated August 30, 2025

All of our nut free snacks for school are kid-friendly, easy to make at home and perfect for popping into snack boxes or lunch boxes!

If you need to send snacks to school with your child, it’s more than likely that they will need to be nut free.

Most schools these days have a nut free policy in order to protect against nut allergies.

This can make buying store bought snacks for school quite tricky.

But making homemade nut free snacks for school not only ensures that they are truly nut free, but can also save you a lot of money in the long run too!

And a lot of these recipes can also be made gluten free or dairy free should you need to.

Nut Free Flapjacks

Crunchy and chewy flapjacks, completely nut free and brilliant to batch make for packed lunches and school snacks.

Mini Chocolate Muffins

Mini Chocolate Muffins, made a little healthier and low in sugar. Brilliant for packed lunches or as an afternoon snack for kids.

Mini Chocolate Chip Cookies

Healthier lower sugar Mini Chocolate Cookies. Brilliant for after school snacks or to pop into packed lunches for kids.

Quinoa Flapjacks

These homemade flapjacks are made with puffed quinoa. A great natural source of protein and fibre and completely nut free so suitable for school lunchboxes

They last for up to 5 days in an airtight container and can be frozen too.

Mini Carrot Banana Bread

These Mini Banana Breads are perfect to pop into snack boxes if your child’s school has a zero chocolate policy.

They contain grated carrot to help add a little extra nutrition into lunchboxes if you have a fussy eater.

Nut Free Granola Bars

Delicious chewy granola bars made with oats, rice krispies and seeds.

Completely nut free and perfect to add to lunch boxes, snack boxes or even at home as an afternoon snack.

Raspberry Coconut Mini Loaves

Our mini loaves are a brilliant snack for kids to take to school as they are packed with oats and yogurt which will keep kids fuller for longer.

They are also dairy free and can very easily be made gluten free too with a couple of simple swaps.

Mini Jam Pinwheels

You just need three ingredients to make these mini jam pinwheels. Delicious little pastry parcels that the kids will love.

I used strawberry jam but any flavour of jam will work really well.

Mini Raspberry Banana Bread

This recipe is actually from over on the Pick Plates website, but it was too good to leave out of this roundup.

These raspberry and white chocolate banana breads are perfect popping into snack boxes at school.

Cheese & Chive Chickpea Dip

With some schools having a policy of only sending fruit and vegetables for school snack time, this dip is perfect to send in with chopped veggies.

Both creamy and cheesy, kids will love dipping chopped carrot, cucumber or peppers into it.

And it’s a great way to encourage kids to eat their veggies without the drama!

Mini Chocolate Spinach Muffins

Muffins are such a versatile snack as the combinations of ingredients are near on endless!

I have loads of Healthy Muffin Recipes but I think these Mini Chocolate Spinach muffins are perfect for snacking on.

You honestly cannot taste the spinach in them and the kids absolutely demolished these when I made them!

Chunky Chocolate Chip Oat Cookies

Low in sugar and packed with fibre from the oats, these cookies are a brilliant snack to add to lunchboxes.

The chocolate chips can be left out if your child’s school doesn’t allow them. They will still be super delicious!

Mini Chocolate Courgette Banana Bread

If your child’s school allows chocolate snacks in their lunchbox then try these Mini Chocolate Banana Breads.

They also contain some hidden courgette, so a great recipe for your fussy eaters!

Child Friendly Hummus With Crudites

A lot of shop bought hummus has a lot of tahini in it which personally I like, but it can be off putting to kids!

My homemade version is much more child friendly and is really easy to make too. Not to mention much cheaper than store bought!

Pack a pot of this in your kids snack box with crudités for a healthy but delicious and filling snack.

Mini Chocolate Chip Banana Bread

The fourth mini banana bread in this roundup but they really are delicious and brilliant for batch making and keeping in the freezer for lunchboxes.

If your child’s school doesn’t allow any chocolate in their lunchbox then it’s totally fine to leave the chocolate chips out.

Sunflower Butter Energy Bars

Delicious energy bars made with homemade sunflower butter, oats, flaxseed and coconut.

They are the perfect nut-free snack for kids that can be popped into lunch bags or enjoyed as an after school snack!

3 Ingredient Banana Muffins

An added bonus of these 3 Ingredient Muffins is that they can be made in advance and frozen. Great for prepping snacks ahead.

Defrost at room temperature in a couple of hours.

If you add them frozen to lunchboxes in the morning they will be defrosted and ready to eat by lunchtime!
